Need Help Stocktaking?SimpleStock Independant Portable Stocktaking System

SimpleStock is an indepedent and portable stocktaking system which allows you fast and accurate counting of barcoded stock.

Simple to use, and designed to provide small and medium businesses with stock control functionality not available with their current systems without the major expense of additional packages.

SimpleStock uses its own PC based database of stock items which can be created manually or populated from a CSV file (for example Microsoft Excel and Access) that has been exported from another system.

When the item database is loaded into the Datalogic : Memor Mobile Computer or (PDT), barcoded stock can be scanned, the item details displayed and the stock quantity entered. When counting is complete, the results are uploaded back from the mobile computer into the database. Stock reports and variance reports may then be printed (if the original stock on hand quantity was held) and the data exported to CSV file for import back into another system if required.

Datalogic : Memor Mobile ComputerThe use of the Datalogic : Memor Mobile Computer to complete a portable stocktake removes the need for paper based stock sheets and the double entry and data errors these can lead to. The speed of stocktaking is also greatly increased, allowing them to be performed more frequently.

The Datalogic : Memor Mobile Computer is a powerful and ergonomic device with inbuilt Barcode Scanner. With colour screen, touchscreen display and CE Windows Interface, making a portable stocktake easy for even the most inexperienced of users.

    SimpleStock Features
  • - Portable Stocktake
  • - Addition of new items
  • - Barcode Printing
  • - Configurable Custom Fields
  • - Price Checking

The flexibility of the system allows it to be used for simple collection of barcode / quantity data to full stocktaking with validation against an existing stock file and variance reporting.

How it works:

RMSTOCK Memor in useThe stock item database contains the barcode, description of item, price, stock on hand and counted quantity on each item.

For basic operation, only the barcode and description are actually required.

For price checking, the price will be necessary and for variance reporting, the original stock on hand information will be required.

Eight additional fields can be configured for storing any other data the user may require, such as secondary product code, supplier, colour, location etc.

Items may be added to the database through the SimpleStock Program itself, or by importing a CSV file containing the necessary information from a another system or Excel spreadsheet. The data may also be edited or deleted.

To stocktake with maximum speed an accuracy, it is essential that all items are barcoded.

RMSTOCK Memor in useAs such SimpleStock allows you to print Barcode labels directly from the system and applied before starting to count stock.

Labels may be printed in a variety of sizes, either on a dedicated label printer or using A4 sheets of labels on a standard laser or bubble jet printer.

When you are ready to do a portable stocktake, the stock item database is downloaded to the mobile computer (also called a Portable Data Terminal or PDT) via a USB cable. The PDT can then be disconnected and carried around the store or warehouse.

When a barcode is scanned, if it is found on file, the item details (all fields including the custom data fields) will be displayed on the colour, graphical LCD display. The details displayed may be used to confirm the barcode is on the correct item, and in a retail environment, the price displayed may be checked against the price on a shelf label to ensure that they match.

The PDT will then prompt for a quantity to be entered. If an item has been scanned before, the quantity will be incremented.

The Datalogic : Memor Mobile Computer (PDT) can be configured in various ways, including:
  • • Not prompting for a quantity (assumes a quantity of 1),
  • • Warning if an item is already scanned,
  • • Displaying stock on hand (blind stocktakes may be preferred),
  • • Allowing to save items even if not found on file (useful for adding new items or if no item file exits on the PDT at all).

The Datalogic : Memor Mobile Computer builds up a file of barcodes and quantities that may then be uploaded to the SimpleStock PC database. The stock count figures are updated and any new items (optionally) are added.Keep Your Stocktaking Simple

From the SimpleStock PC application, the item and count data may be viewed, printed, exported to PDF or CSV file formats or even emailed. A full stock list, or a list of stock variances only may be printed out.

The item list may be sorted or filtered and columns reordered in many ways, making the viewing and exporting of data extremely flexible.

Depending on the system that the original item list was exported from, it may be possible to import the final stock count figures back into the host system if required. If not, the stock levels in the host system may be manually updated.
